UPDATE: Coroner Identifies Snowboarder Killed in Avalanche near Cameron Pass
DENVER (AP) - The Jackson County Coroner has identified the snowboarder killed in an avalanche near Cameron Pass in north-central Colorado. The victim has been identified as 26-year-old Joseph Philpott of Fort Collins. The Colorado Avalanche Information Center says two snowboarders were navigating back country terrain when they were caught in the slide in the Paradise Bowl on the west side of the pass Saturday. Alex White, 24, survived the avalanche after being buried for three hours. He was flown to a Fort Collins-area hospital by helicopter. His condition was unknown as of Monday afternoon. CAIC says there have been four avalanche deaths in Colorado this season and the danger of snow slides in Colorado is considerable in northern and central Colorado.
