DENVER (AP) - The Jackson County Coroner has identified the snowboarder killed in an avalanche near Cameron Pass in north-central Colorado.

The victim has been identified as 26-year-old Joseph Philpott of Fort Collins.

The Colorado Avalanche Information Center says two snowboarders were navigating back country terrain when they were caught in the slide in the Paradise Bowl on the west side of the pass Saturday.

Alex White, 24, survived the avalanche after being buried for three hours. He was flown to a Fort Collins-area hospital by helicopter. His condition was unknown as of Monday afternoon.

CAIC says there have been four avalanche deaths in Colorado this season and the danger of snow slides in Colorado is considerable in northern and central Colorado.

This really hurts us here in ft collins! we ride Cameron all the time and it is a true tragedy that one of are own has lost his life there. Deepest condolences to the family and friends. I did not know him but This really should be a lesson to all that you must respect mother nature, and be as careful as possible out there. I Know there was nothing he could of done. This happens. and we back country riders know this. Its about the trill and the peacefulness of being back in the middle of no where! Its a beautiful thing. You will be missed
