GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo.- Several kids showed off their bowling skills on Thursday, as the competed against local law enforcement during "Bowl with a Cop."

Every year, the Grand Junction Police Department and Mesa County Sheriffs Office host the bowling event during Christmas break.

Local kids flooded into Orchard Mesa Lanes to participate in the event.
Members from the police department say it's a good way to interact with kids.

“It teaches them that they can just come right up to us and say, ‘Hi. how are you doing?’ and shake our hand and high five us without having to be nervous at all,” said Rocky Baldoziur, of the Grand Junction Police Department. “They learn to be relaxed around police officers.”

“I am having a blast here,” said Julie Chaffe, participant. “One of my points was 99."

All the fun was free thanks to Orchard Mesa Lanes.
