Skim Milk Does Not Reduce Weight Gain for Toddlers

by KREX News Room

There is new evidence that the use of low fat or skim milk does not reduce weight gain for toddlers.

Researchers at the University of Virginia asked parents of 11,000 children about their milk use. They found the average weight of kids who drank regular and 2% milk was lower than kids who drank low fat or skim milk.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends children drink low fat milk after the age of two to reduce saturated fat intake and prevent excess weight gain.
