Grand Junction - The city of Grand Junction receives a prestigious nationwide award for excellence in financial reporting for the 27th year in a row.

The report is often used by investors, and is available to the public to show Grand Junction's financial position for the year. It was one of 1,900 cities in the nation, and Canada had honors as well. Officials say they are glad to receive the award that speaks to the credibility of the report.

Officials say one of their main goals was to have full disclosure for the city's finances, and believes this award supports their idea of transparency.
