By 2015 Tablets Expected to Outnumber Personal Computers

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Companies have started to unveil their new tablets for the holiday season.
Manufacturers are expected to ship 184 million tablets this year, which is 53% more than last year. Officials are saying by 2015, 331 million tablets will ship out, outnumbering personal computers for the first time.
Apple is refreshing its iPad lineup and slashing the price of its Mac computers ahead of the holiday shopping season.
On Tuesday the company unveiled a new, thinner and lighter tablet called the "iPad Air'' along with a slew of new Macs at an event in San Francisco. Apple's marketing chief says the new iPad is eight times faster than the original one.
About 33 percent of American adults now have a tablet.
According to CBS in San Francisco affiliate, two years ago, the iPad made up 65 percent of the tablet market versus 30 percent for Android tablets.
By the end of this year, Android is expected to have 50 percent market share, with the iPad falling to 49 percent.
