GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- On Sunday folks gathered at the Commons and Fountains of Hilltop to honor veterans.

The first ceremony took place at the Commons at 1 p.m. Around 25 residents of the senior living community were honored for their services.

The second ceremony at the Fountains was held later in the afternoon at 2:30. About 10 residents were honored.

Col. Bill Komstedt, a retired airman, said, "We don't want the people to not be aware of the price that people have paid; it still hurts. But now that we can share it, I hope that so many people can learn from this as we have."

The Montrose Junior ROTC, the Colorado Color Guard and the Colorado Honor Guard joined together to perform a special flag ceremony for those in attendance.
