GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- Business expansion is always a positive economic indicator for our community, and on Saturday residents welcomed the largest retail farm and ranch supply store chain in the country, Tractor Supply Co.

Hundreds of shoppers shuffled into the business, keeping employees on their feet.

Store manager Nathan Gagne was happy with the turnout. "I don't know how many people have been here exactly, but I know that we had 800 hats starting this morning, and they're all gone."

Gagne says Grand Junction is the perfect location for the new store. "A lot of different surrounding communities come here to shop, so for us it made sense."

Residents agree, saying the region's been waiting a long time for a store like this.

Grand Junction resident Kitty Hagedorn said, "We have a lot of farm and ranch families, and they need support to continue the businesses that have sometimes been in families for generations."

"I keep hearing over and over that they needed somewhere to buy the goods for farm and ranch," Gagne said.

As the economy continues to recover, Gagne believes this business will help. "Hopefully, we can bring some extra dollars to the community, tax dollars and things like that."

Richard Ward, a shopper who was born and raised in Grand Junction, said, "I feel like that's been the backbone of the Grand Valley here for several years, the agriculture and farming."

Tractor Supply also aims to help the community as well.

"For instance, we have FFA in our parking lot; we donated all the food to them to try and help them raise some money for their upcoming events. It's very important to Tractor Supply to be a part of the community and part of those individual groups," said Gagne.

Employees look forward to providing a wide range of products to the Grand Valley, but the one thing you won't be able to find is a tractor.

The store is located at 2449 Highway 6 and 50.

They are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
