Tourism Officials Boost Marketing Efforts in Glenwood Springs

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. Glenwood Springs tourism officials are pushing their Ski 7 bundle package for the second year in a row.

This winter Glenwood Springs is taking full advantage of its prime location on the Western Slope

Lisa Langer, vice president of tourism and marketing for the Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association, said, "Aspen, Snowmass and Vail, you know, they're household names around the country, and Glenwood Springs is right between them. We can take advantage of all the exposure of our neighbors who do a lot of marketing."

Ski 7 gives tourists full control over their itinerary. Multiple options of things to do during their stay helps maximize their trip.

"Every age can experience Glenwood Springs in different ways. We have wonderful spas, the mineral spas are fabulous, the caves at Yampah Spa," Langer said.

Visitors lodge in Glenwood Springs and can utilize seven surrounding resorts: Vail, Beaver Creek, Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, Snowmass, Buttermilk and Sunlight Mountain Resort.

Jeremy Gilley, the director of sales for Glenwood Hot Springs, said, "By teaming up with Aspen and the Vails of the world, we're going to see an impact hopefully here see an impact in Glenwood Springs for all the hotels."

Langer said, "For 2013 our marketing budget has been increased and we're really looking forward to exploring other options."

When tourists lodge in Glenwood Springs, the local businesses get a big boost.

"They hub here in Glenwood, they take advantage of the wonderful lodging that we have and all of the amenities we have for apres ski," said Langer.

"You're going to find average room rates probably $100 to $150 less per night in Glenwood Springs," Gilley said.

Officials are confident that another year of implementing Ski 7 will boost traffic in the region, and are hoping for a strong snow pack to help back their efforts.
