GRAND JUNCTION,Colo. On Saturday, the Bureau of Land Management also celebrated the 2013 National Public Lands Day by picking up trash and debris from the shooting range.
There were 35 volunteers picking up trash from both the pistol and rifle shooting ranges.
Organizers say that this year wasn't as bad as last year.
However, the clean up was much needed due to the many repairs and renovations at the range.
“They have done some work on the burms and there are some other improvements their going to be making. They put a cement pad so that it’s accessible for somebody who’s in a wheel chair,” said Fran Park of the Grand Junction Field Office.
Officials say they appreciate all the volunteers who help make the shooting a clean and safe place.
They also say without clean up efforts the shooting range could potentially shut down.
