GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. On Saturday evening the Mesa County Democrats held their annual Spring Fling. It is the organizations biggest fundraiser of the year.
Hosted at A Taste of Heaven, local democrats wined and dined to raise money.
The event is put on every April and features a silent auction. Officials say the fundraiser brings in $15 to $20,000 each year.
JoLynn Phillips, chair of the Mesa County Democrats, said, "It brings us together and it is just a good time, as we're doing right now, to see people we haven't seen for some time, to renew acquaintances, to see knew faces, we always look for some new faces."
As to where the money will go, Claudette Konola, treasurer of the Mesa County Democrats, said, "Can support local candidates when they're running for office and have an office during election years. We don't have enough money to have an election office all the time, but during election years we're able to have an office because of this annual fundraiser that we do."
Next Saturday local democrats are invited to attend a strategic planning meeting. The group will layout a two-year plan to better achieve party goals. For more information call the Mesa County Democrats at (970) 248-9224.
