GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.-Mesa County Libertarians gathered Saturday afternoon for a campaign rally, talking about issues and plans to gain more support in the upcoming weeks.

Registered Libertarian voters in District 54 were invited to attend the pot luck meet-and-greet with libertarian candidates in the state.

House District 54 candidate Tim Menger (L), who just came off his first debate with republican opponent Jared Wright, spoke on the importance of talking to the community about the issues. He also talked about the need to swing republican votes in the other direction.

Menger is confident as the election draws closer, and says a win for him would be historical, "If I am elected as a house representative, or let me say when I am elected as a house representative, I will have made history. It will be the first time in the lower 48 states that any state has elected the libertarian as the state house representative."

After the rally, Manger and volunteers handed out door hangers to the community. Menger also headed to the Fruita Fall Festival to talk with constituents at the event.
