5 Day Closure Begins at Rimrock Intersection
KREX News Room
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. On Monday a major Grand Junction intersection closed due to construction, and will remain shut down for five days. The closure is at the south-side of the Rimrock/Independent Intersection and is expected to cause some congestion and detours for drivers.
Work will focus on paving the closed Rimrock Avenue intersection. On Monday crews removed asphalt from the intersection, installed two storm drains and five electrical conduits.
Project supervisor, Matt Will, said, "Just please be patient with us. This five days I know is inconvenient, but it's certainly better than the temporary closures we'd have to do for three weeks at a time."
During the work, officials have mapped out two detours for motorists:
1) South at 24 3/4 Road, then east along West Independent to Rimrock Avenue
2) South at American Way, then north along 25 1/2 Road to Rimrock Avenue
