Juniper Ridge Students Won't Be Tardy for School Year
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. While the Juniper Ridge Community School is still under construction, students won't be missing the first day of class. As school quickly approaches, faculty members are preparing their temporary home at Canyon View Vineyard Church. While the site is fairly bare right now, officials say that won't be the case in four to six weeks. They also say the transition will be very smooth. For future students of Juniper Ridge Community School, where their education isn't necessarily as important as how they get their education. Administrative director for the school, Patrick Ebel, said, "The kids are excited to come, the parents are excited to come, because they've all come to our school because they've been looking for something a little bit different, something not that's not being offered by District 51 right now." The school has been welcomed to utilize Canyon View Vineyard Church, located just down the street. "We are opening. We couldn't open in our spot but that didn't stop us," said Ebel. While financing issues put them behind schedule, they have now secured financing with Home Loan Bank , allowing them to soon transform the empty space into their permanent place. "In September, October we're going to have classroom buildings here, we'll have play structures over there, we will have the beginnings of our garden right in through there," said Ebel. Their top priority right now is to get students in school. Their Waldorf-based teaching methods allow them to be flexible. "Really does speak to what children are, it helps them enjoy coming to school. Because that is our aim, children love to learn," said Ebel. Minor adjustments at the church will help move them through this transitional phase. "We're going to transform this piece of property. It's going to be beautiful." Juniper Ridge is close to enrollment capacity but is accepting enrollment applications. They invite anyone interested to come ask questions and learn more about their vision and their Waldorf teaching methods. For more information, click here.
