FRUITA, Colo. Hundred of people took part in Fruita's Sweet Heart 5k and 10k runs Saturday. After the race, the community was invited to take part in a health expo held inside the Fruita Community Center.

Officials hold the expo along with the race because February is heart health month. Children and adults both participated in the day's activities.

Tustyn Miller, a nine-year-old runner, said, "I kind of like had a pace for the whole race and when I had a block left I sprint."

Special events coordinator Kelley Griffin, said, "The response has been great. Numbers are really high, especially for the weather we've been having. It's been such a cold winter, we're amazed at how many people have come out and are toughing out these cold temperatures."

Officials say over 400 people came out to show their 'heart'.

Rocky Mountain Orthopaedic Associates and Family Health West sponsored the event.
