GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. On this Military Appreciation Day, dozens of veterans were honored in Grand Junction.
A ceremony was held at Atrium of the Grand Valley and was presented by The American Legion. Thirty veterans received certificates for their service.
The American Legion says they are grateful to the Atrium, where they hold meetings and receive free food.
Eugene Geurink, manager at the Atrium, said, "I've got a resident who was actually on the ship looking through binoculars as the treaty was being signed in Japan Harbor. There's so many great stories and these people did so much during World War II, the Korean War, Vietnam War, that anytime someone wants to come honor them we are always all for that."
Atrium officials say the veterans have been looking forward to the event and that all branches of the military were honored. A lunch was served before and a dancing performance took place after.
