Gun Owners Reload After Obama's Re-election

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- Ever since President Barack Obama took office four years ago, gun sales have increased.

As media outlets revealed the man elected to lead our nation Tuesday night, many folks around the country knew where they were heading first thing Wednesday morning.

John G., a salesperson at Jerry's Outdoor Sports, said, "The day after there was a lot of guys here walking around with a distraught look on their face and a big box of ammo."

This trend is a familiar one for gun retailers like Jerry Stehman. Stehman is the owner of Jerry's Outdoor Sports. He said, "It's the fear of regulation, maybe banning different things like high-capacity magazines. Tomorrow, Saturday, we expect to just get absolutely run over, which we did four years ago; it was the biggest day I'd ever had."

"They're worried; they know Obama's agenda. They just don't want to be caught without what they want. They should be able to have what they want," John said.

Although President Obama didn't do anything to cause this sort of panic in his last term, there's fear he may when not facing re-election.

Stehman said, "He's a lame duck, and now everybody has that fear of a lame duck trying to do whatever it feels like because he doesn't have to worry about getting re-elected."

Stehman says business is good and sales are high, but even so, he wishes the race had ended in a different way.

"It comes down to trust, and the gun community doesn't trust him or his liberal allies. It really just comes down to trust," said Stehman.

While gun control legislation doesn't appear to be surfacing any time in the near future, many local residents aren't taking any chances.

Ineptocracy: A system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

My tax money being given to hippies who lay around and smoke pot is not "Forward"

Hey Jeff ! said on Sunday, Nov 11 at 10:04 AM

I suspect that by "Forward" you mean that you expect the rest of us to pitch in and divvy up the wealth. Bet you don't make it past the front steps.......

Ridiculous! Gun store owners are laughing all the way to the bank. This country sent a message loud and clear! Mesa county can get on board or get left behind. Time to retire the gun totting, angry, rich, white man persona and stop with the hatred and lies. No one believes it anymore.

We are going to need those guns, when all the money being given away runs out and all the Obama zombies riot. Lol I know I'll be secure.

Let's see, the stock market took a nose dive, taxes are going up, and layoffs have already started. All you liberals need to seriously study basic economics. It is possible (necessary) to have a conservative fiscally responsible government and still be a generous "liberal" person with the money you EARN.

What would you expect from a far right town that hasn't made the right call on anything in decades due to their extreme right views! They blew the medical pot thing while the rest of the State profited. The screwed the Pooch on wanting to turn GJ into a Gas Land, the list goes on and on! These folks are stuck in the land time forgot and really need to Wake the F*^K up! But that won't happen as long as the far right keeps the old farts scared and the young farts in the dark!

Jeff, if you moved "forward" in the past four years, you must have started out at rock bottom. Most Americans went the other way, thanks to the Panderer in Chief.
