FRUITA, Colo. For a second day in a row, the Fruita Lions Club held a chili supper, raising money for high school seniors. They held the annual event event at a new location this year, Independence Village Hall.

With the proceeds the Lions Club gives $500 scholarships to Fruita Monument High School students going to Colorado Mesa University. This is just one of the ways they give to the city.

Norm Noffsinger with the Fruita Lion's Club, said, "Helps the community and we also give the kids a leg-up and we support Colorado Mesa University, so it's a good deal for everybody."

In addition to chili, Judy's famous chicken noodle soup was served to attendees.

There was also a cake walk at the event. Participants paid for paddles, and if their number was drawn they won a cake, all of which were made by the Lion's Club.
