“I like the sweetheart top. I want it to show off my figure, but I still want to feel like a princess; I want a lot in a dress,” says Tacie Trudell. The 26 year old has been wearing her carat, princess cut engagement ring for only a week, but the new fiancee already has finances on the mind. “We are really trying to be budget friendly and trying to find ways where we can save money on things that aren’t as important or that we feel like we can cut back on.” Cutting back is a new trend hitting couples across the country hard. 25% percent of brides are slashing their budgets in half. “You always want that fairytale wedding, but I don’t think you ever realize how much things cost until you get your feet in there,” says newly engaged Breanne Baptista. Judy Panozzo, owner of a local bridal store says she sees girls all time time loving a dress, but not returning, making her assume that they found a cheaper one. Bargain hunting has even brought out weekly bartering attempts in her store. “I have girls ask me what I can do on a dress and I say I don’t barter.” The big day comes big decisions. “I might not love it, but really, really like it. The price tag has a lot to do with it,” says Trudell.
