Grand Junction, Colo.
Due to the Glenwood Canyon rockslide, some travelers may be avoiding I-70 altogether, and taking to the air instead. News Channel 5 spoke with Denver Air Connection, a charter airline company that operates flights to Denver from Grand Junction Regional Airport.
Typically, the company says they see around 125 passengers a week. But the past few days, they’ve seen the number of reservations sky rocket, and expect to service well over 200 passengers this week. That would put the Grand Junction to Denver flights at near capacity for the small charter airliner, but limited seats are still available for the rest of the week.
The price for a seat on a Denver Air Connection flight will set you back about $300 for round trip service to Denver from Grand Junction. We checked other travel websites, and found airfares closer to $600 and higher if you book a flight for the next couple of days.
But Denver Air Connection says they have no plans to raise prices because of the rockslide, even if you book late.
Denver Air Connection flies on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and they do not fly to Denver International, but to other smaller airports in the Denver area. For more information on Denver Air Connection and available flights, you can call 866-373-8513 or visit their website at http://www.dianoway.com.
