A 4-year-old boy gets a letter delivered straight from up above. 2 years ago Sergeant Jason Lhotka of the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office died while climbing Mt. Kilamanjaro. His son, Nick, wrote a letter to his dad telling him how much he misses him, never thinking he would get a response.
The letter didn’t have a stamp or an exact address, but it landed exactly in the right hands. Nick’s letter to his dad read:
“Dear Dada, This is Nick. I love you so much-all the way to the moon...I love my binkie too. I don’t want the binkie fairy to come. I’m sad becase I really miss you...the next time I’m sad, mad, or angry I’m goin’ to do something by myself instead of hitting or kicking...I love you all the way to the stars. I want you to come down. --Nick”
The 4 year old sealed the letter so it could make the trip up to heaven. 3 days later, “There’s a letter in the mailbox hand addressed to Nick Lhotka at our address. I hadn’t even put our address on it, says Elena Lhotka, Nick’s mom.
The letter to Nick read: “Dear Nick, we received your letter you had sent to Dada recently. You dada, Jason is here with angels and is watching over you every minute of everyday..in your letter you said you get angry sometimes at things. It’s okay to get angry as long as you don’t hurt anyone…
Now, as far as the binkie’s are concered, as you get older you can try not using it as much if you want...Nick, I have to get going as a guardian angel I have lots to do in 24 hours...if you miss your dada just close our eyes and say his name and his presence will be in your memory forever and ever. --Your Guardian Angel”
“After I read the letter and told Nick that Dada got his letter the look on his face was priceless,” says his mom. “I really miss him all the way up to the stars, moon, and sun,” Nick explained. His guardian angel said he knew immediately when he saw the letter that this one was going to be a special one.
“All my life I’ve had guardian angels, even when I was a little kid. So I knew this boy will think about it and know that he has a guardian angel. When he grows up he’ll be someone’s guardian angel.”
