The Idaho fugitive who was caught in Grand Junction a few weeks ago has been charged with murder. Thomas Trevino, 30, is accused of shooting 24-year-old Jill Gelever at a Twin Falls, Idaho, hotel earlier this month. Gelever recently died from her wounds, and the Twin Falls prosecutor quickly charged Trevino with first degree murder.

Shortly after the shooting, Trevino fled Idaho and traveled 500 miles to Grand Junction. Still no word on whether Trevino had any Grand Valley connections.

Mesa County Sheriff’s deputies arrested the fugitive after Trevino was spotted walking along a rural road. Trevino was still in custody at the Mesa County jail as of Tuesday night. But after waiving his extradition rights at a hearing last week, Trevino will soon be sent back to Idaho to face the murder charge.

The Twin Falls prosecutor told News Channel 5 they haven’t decided whether or not they will pursue the death penalty against Trevino.
