Grand Junction, Colo.
A high-tech bookmobile rolled into Grand Junction Friday morning, to help spread the word about Mesa County Libraries’ online options. The Digital Bookmobile—which is actually a large semi truck—is parked at Central Library in downtown Grand Junction. The truck is operated by a company that supports libraries all across the country with their online catalogs. The interactive features inside the truck show patrons how they can get audiobooks, videos, and more right on their desktops or MP3 players for free—as long as they have a library membership.
“A lot of people still think that we’re just about books,” says Shana Wade of Mesa County Libraries. “And so being able to have this great big truck to show people about our downloadable resources is exciting,” according to Wade.
You still have a chance to check out the Digital Bookmobile, which will be open Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 in the afternoon at Central Library, which is located at the corner of Grand Avenue and 5th Street in Grand Junction. You can check out Mesa County Libraries’ digital catalog by visiting http://search.overdrive.com.
