Cori Coffin joined NewsChannel 5 in October 2011 as a news reporter, moved to weekend anchoring a couple months later and joined the morning team September 2013.
Prior to joining KREX-TV, Cori worked as a correspondent/reporter for Time Warner Cable in Los Angeles, an entertainment reporter/producer for The Hollywood Reporter TV, as well as a freelance reporter for other outlets in the Southern California area including the Orange County Register and her alma mater, Chapman University.
An Arizona native, Cori attended Arizona State University studying Journalism; she anchored for Channel 2/MTV-U, ASU’s student channel, before transferring to Chapman University in California to finish out her education. At the Dodge College of Film and Media Arts, she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Television & Broadcast Journalism as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Advertising and Public Relations. Cori graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2008 and interned internationally at the BBC headquarters in London, locally for KDOC-TV’s live morning show as well as gaining network experience with NBC Studios in Los Angeles.
Cori’s college career is highlighted by the leadership position of Commissioner of Communications, which oversees all media communications and P.R. at the university. She also holds two Cecil Awards for her television and media campaign work in the broadcast school.
A third-degree black belt in Taekwondo, Cori is very disciplined and leads an active lifestyle. She looks forward to making the most of the eclectic culture and activities in the Grand Valley, as well as bringing the community of Grand Junction its breaking and feature news!
