John Dias joined NewsChannel 5 in January 2012 as a reporter. He adventured all the way to Grand Junction from Long Island, NY, and can’t wait to climb his first mountain.
John graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University at Albany with a dual Bachelor’s Degree in Communication and Journalism, with a minor in Political Science. When interning at the New York State Assembly, he discovered his infatuation with research and politics. However, he didn’t realize his true passion for reporting until he landed his first job in the news industry as a Web Producer at News 10 in Albany.
While in college, he was heavily involved in the University at Albany’s student-run television program and was the Communication Director for the State University of New York Student Assembly.
When he’s not digging for news stories, John loves to run, read, and play with his dog Baxter.
