State Representative Laura Bradford, R-Collbran, says tough decisions lay ahead regarding the state budget. That’s what Bradford told the Mesa County Republican Women Monday afternoon at a luncheon held at the Masonic Center in Grand Junction.
Bradford says solving the budget crisis will involve different measures—which may include cutting spending, enforcing current tax laws, as well as instituting higher fees or taxes to help make up the gap. Bradford wasn’t too specific, but said it was going to be up to the Democrats, who hold the majority in both houses in Denver.
Bradford also told the gathering about the importance of the upcoming census in 2010, saying it’s vital that people fill out the form, since data collected from the census impacts how many representatives each state has at the national level. Bradford also discussed the need to get younger people involved in the Republican Party, believing the GOP has not done a good enough job attracting the younger voters. Following her speech, Bradford took questions from the audience, which had over 50 people in attendance.
