With so much focus being put on young people to get their H1N1 flu shots, the state health department is reaching out to seniors now to get their seasonal flu vaccine. The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment is targeting seniors 65 years and older to remind them that they are at high risk for the seasonal flu.

Health officials say concerned seniors could be feeling overlooked this year from not being a priority group for H1N1 vaccines. But when it comes to the seasonal flu, seniors are being given special attention. Every year, more than 36,000 people die from the seasonal flu in the United States, and a majority of those deaths are seniors.
