The State Health Department announces it officially: H1N1 vaccine is available to everyone. The vaccine was initially offered to those in high priority groups. Now, health officials are encouraging everyone to get vaccinated.

The federal government is continuing to send the H1N1 vaccine to all local public health agencies. So far, nearly 1,900 hospitalizations and 57 swine flu deaths have been reported in Colorado. Local doctors say parents should be more concerned about the virus and not the vaccine.

2,000 appointments for the H1N1 vaccine are available at the Mesa County Health Department. They will begin taking appointments on Monday, December 14 at 8:30 in the morning and continue through Tuesday. Shots will be given on Wednesday December 16th from 9:00 until 6:00. You can log on to the Health Department’s website or call 683-6636 to make your appointment.
