Rock Falls, Kills Woman on Highway 40

A woman was killed Wednesday morning by a rockslide on Highway 40 near Steamboat Springs. This highway is one of two detours available as an alternate to I-70. CDOT says the woman was a passenger in a car traveling eastbound when the rock crashed into the car. It fell from about 900 feet. CDOT geologists are on their way to the scene to investigate the slide and the stability of the hillside.
