Police arrested a murder suspect in connection with the deadly beating outside a local bar. Denver Police arrested 27-year-old Sahr Benjamin Mbawa in connection with the deadly beating outside of Quincy Bar.
Police arrested Mbawa on Friday around 4:30 p.m. Mbawa is accused of killing 32-year-old Richard Martinez during a fight outside the bar.
In an arrest affidavit released earlier this week, 27-year-old murder suspect Sahr Benjamin Mbawa may have admitted to the crime. The affidavit states that Mbawa and a friend went to a Clifton gas station shortly after the fight where a store clerk overheard the suspect talking about the fight.
Denver Police say Mbawa turned himself in on Friday.
According to witness accounts, a friend of Mbawa told police he witnessed the fight and saw Mbawa punch and kick Martinez.
A memorial fund has been set up for the victim, Richard Martinez, Jr. Donations can be made at the Grand Junction Federal Credit Union on Main. Donations should be made out to the Martinez Family Fund.
