Grand Junction, Colo.
The man accused of killing a Grand Junction woman and her daughter 34 years ago, has pleaded not guilty. 65-year-old Jerry Nemnich entered his plea in court Tuesday morning. Nemnich is facing two counts of first degree murder as well as counts of first degree and second degree burglary.
Nemnich is accused of stabbing 24-year-old Linda Benson and her 5-year-old daughter, Kelley, inside their apartment in July 1975. The case had gone cold until investigators matched DNA blood evidence from the crime scene to Nemnich. Nemnich, a trucker by profession, was arrested without incident in April while passing through the Loma Port of Entry.
Nemnich’s three-week trial has been set for April 2010.
