A man wanted in connection with a Loma shooting turns himself in to police. Gunshots ring out from a high-powered rifle in Loma sparking a Swat Team standoff. Sheriff’s officials say 45-year-old Mark Young is now behind bars after sparking a 14-hour manhunt.
It all began around midnight, when deputies were called to 1640 P Road in Loma on reports of a shooting. Authorities say Young fired a high-powered rifle at two people in a car after an argument. The car was hit twice, but no one was injured.
The SWAT Team was called out early Tuesday morning and tried to call Young out of the house for several hours. Around 4:00 Tuesday morning, officers went inside and found that he was gone. Sheriff’s officials say after Young learned from his family that he was wanted, he turned himself in late Tuesday afternoon.
This is not Young’s first run-in with the law. Between 1986 and 2006 was arrested ten different times for several crimes including assault, theft, DUI, burglary, and drug possession. Young is facing several charges including attempted assault, felony menacing, and reckless endangerment.
