A local doctor could have his medical license revoked after allegations he improperly touched his patients. In a complaint filed by the Colorado Attorney General’s office, Dr. Louis Bair, a local osteopathic physician, is accused of performing sexual acts on as many as six of his patients over the past several years. Four of the six patients were also employees of Bair’s.
The alleged incidents occurred at Desert Sun Medical Center, which was Bair’s practice in Clifton, and also at Community Hospital, where Bair was not an employee, but did occasionally provide services. Bair no longer works at either facility.
On top of the accusations of sexual misconduct, Bair is also accused of letting one of his employees/patients fill out unnecessary prescriptions for Oxycontin.
According to the complaint, Bair’s medical license was suspended back in January when the allegations first came to light. The Attorney General’s office also says Bair suffers from a mental and/or physical disability, which “renders him unable to safely practice medicine.” Now, the state is looking to revoke his license entirely, preventing Bair from practicing in Colorado.
Bair will be able to fight the charges against him at a hearing in front of the Office of Administrative Courts in Denver. No date has been set for that hearing.
The Attorney General’s office told News Channel 5 they referred the complaint to the Mesa County District Attorney, who will decide if criminal charges should be filed.
