Anthony Bemboom, Ivan Hartle and Jordan Kistler lead the Iowa Western Reivers to a 10-4 win over San Jacinto on Friday night at Sam Suplizio Field.
The Reivers (49-12) kept the Gators, who entered the game with a perfect 4-0 JUCO World Series record, from clinching the school’s sixth baseball National Championship.
Ivan Hartle led off the contest with a solo homer off Miguel Pena. Then later in the inning, Anthony Bemboom hit a towering three-run home run to give Iowa Western a 4-0 lead.
Kistler pitched seven solid innings for the Reivers, allowing only four runs on seven hits in seven innings of action.
Pena (1-1 JUCO) had one of his worst outings of the season. The freshman lefty, who threw 143 pitches in a sensational performance on Monday night, didn’t seem to have his Grade - A stuff against the best offense in the country. He gave up seven runs on six hits in an inning of work.
Iowa Western and San Jacinto will battle for all of the marbles on Saturday night at 7:30 pm at Sam Suplizio Field. Iowa Western will be seeking the school’s first ever baseball championship. San Jacinto will be looking for a NJCAA record sixth National Title.
