Like many other people, Grand Junction city employees are taking some time off for Thanksgiving. Most city offices will be closed both Thursday and Friday in observance of the holiday. There will be no trash or recycling pickup Thursday, and the schedule will be delayed by one day for the rest of the week.

There’s also some good news for downtown drivers: starting Thursday and lasting through New Year’s Day, parking will be free in designated areas. That includes public spaces in the Rood Avenue parking garage, and metered spaces with the red plastic bags reading “Season’s Greetings-Free Parking.”
