The Grand Junction Police Department says its officers who were involved in a deadly shooting at the Timbers Motel are back on patrol. Both were placed on paid administrative leave after shooting 39-year-old Brent Ingram twice in the chest. Authorities say Ingram was intoxicated and had a knife when officers confronted him, and he refused to put it down.

Placing officers on paid leave is standard procedure during such an investigation. The case is now in the hands of the Mesa County District Attorney’s office.
