Fruitvale Residents Weigh in on Annexation

It’s a hotly debated question right now: should Clifton be annexed into the city of Grand Junction?  Wednesday night it was Fruitvale’s turn to voice their opinion. An outspoken crowd attended the annexation information meeting at Grand Mesa Middle School.

It was the second of three planned community meetings. Opponents of the annexation say things are fine the way they are. While supporters say important public services like law enforcement will take a hit down the road. While a large part of the crowd was against annexation, officials say the issue is still divided down the middle overall according to recent polls.

If you missed the first two meetings, you can still go to the third and last one Thursday evening.The meeting will be at Clifton Community Hall from 6 o’clock to 8 o’clock.
