Fruitvale, Colo.
Fire investigators are searching for the cause of a late night fire in Fruitvale.
It broke out in a shed around 9:30 Thursday night, but quickly spread to the nearby mobile home on Lark Drive. Flames were shooting 30 feet into the air, as firefighters tried to battle the blaze. Clifton fire officials say the fire was stubborn and took them nearly two hours to contain.
Four people were home at the time, they all made it out safely.
Fire officials have determined the fire started inside the shed, but they don’t know the exact cause.
Clifton Assistant Fire Chief Greg Martin says, “We found out later that there was somebody living in the shed. We didn’t know that until the fire was about halfway out.”
Two firefighters were treated on the scene for heat exhaustion. No one else was injured.
Damage to the home is estimated at $80,000.
