You may have seen smoke billowing over the Bookcliffs Tuesday, but BLM experts say not to worry--the fire is far from town. The fire is in a remote, isolated canyon called Hunter Canyon, about 15 miles northwest of Grand Junction. It has grown in size over Tuesday afternoon from just three acres to now burning 12 acres of land.
A smoke jumper crew was sent out to battle the fire, but because of the rough terrain, firefighters plan to sit back and monitor the fire. On Wednesday morning, firefighters will try to figure out a plan of attack to combat this fire.
