Monday starts the fourth week of the Miriam Helmick trial, and the defense has taken a turn. The defense attorney mentioned another person as a possible suspect in last year’s murder of Alan Helmick. The judge ruled in the defense’s favor, but because there is no direct evidence linking the person to the crime, the defense is focusing on Miriam.

The lead investigator says he immediately considered Helmick a suspect because she showed little to no emotion after her husband’s death. He says Helmick’s attitude gave him reason to believe she was a suspect.

Prosecutors say they think they could rest by this Wednesday. Miriam Helmick may take the stand as early as Friday.
